Come sail away with us on our second annual Postcard Jar Friends Cruise! We would love for you to join us (Steve and Ann) along with other friends and readers of our blog, Postcard Jar, on a 7-night cruise to Alaska on the beautiful Celebrity Edge.

Why a Postcard Jar Friends Cruise?
Basically, our first Postcard Jar Friends cruise to the Eastern Caribbean was so much fun, we decided to do it again! Your support and encouragement has meant the world to us and we genuinely consider you friends. We can’t think of a better place to get to know one another and enjoy a relaxing vacation together than aboard a beautiful ship at sea. Below is a pic of the fabulous people who joined us on our first Postcard Jar Friends Cruise in 2022.
Where we’re going on our Postcard Jar Friends Cruise 2024
Our Friends of Postcard Jar Cruise 2024, we’re sailing to Alaska on the Celebrity Edge. Only people who book with our agent can be included in the group, exclusive on-board activities, and our pre-cruise Zoom calls. SPACE IS LIMITED, so you’ll want to book soon. We have reserved 50 cabins and as of May 2023, 31 of them are already spoken for.
We’ll depart from Seattle and travel to Ketchikan and then cruise the Endicott Arm before docking in Juneau. From there we’ll visit Skagway and sail the inside passage before making our way to Victoria Island in Canada.
How we decided on this cruise
With the help of our friend and travel agent, John Walker from Dream Vacations, we chose this cruise for a number of reasons. First, we love Celebrity Cruises and have had a great experience every time we’ve cruised with this line. The ships have always been exceptionally safe and clean and the food and service are impeccable.
We also like that with Celebrity Cruises, the atmosphere is relaxing yet fun, without making you feel like you’re at a college frat party. The lovely ladies below are our daughter, Meghan, and her friend, Dulce.
Finally, we know from personal experience that the Celebrity Edge is a truly luxurious and well-designed ship. We have sailed on the Edge more than any other ship – five times so far. It was the first of the new Edge Class ships and it is just stunning. It also has some of the best bars at sea.

What type of cabins are in your block booking? We usually cruise Aqua Class
Cheers Karynwithayaus
All types, except the suites are currently sold out. We’d love to have you join us!
We have multiple types from inside to Aqua Class.
Are there any cabins still available for Alast?
Yes, we still have some cabins available and we’d love to have more folks join us!
Is this aimed more towards guests 50+ or would it be suitable for guests in their early 20’s? What ages were on board the first cruise you organized?
Our cruise is for anyone. On our previous cruise we had guests aged 12-80+. It is absolutely good for 20-somethings…and we have guests registered for the next cruise who will be in their 20’s, as well. It’s a fun group with a wide variety of ages. Best of all, you can do as much–or as little–with the group as you’d like!
What will the weather be like at that time of year
Weather can vary in May. Typically it is 45-55 degrees Fahrenheit. Everything is beginning to get green and wildlife are active after a long winter. The tourism season begins in mid-May and goes through September. We are planning to dress in layers.
My husband and I both use canes to walk with and I currently have issues with steps. Would a cruise be a good trip for cane users?
A cruise is a great option. We had a couple of cruisers on the first Friends Cruise who used motorized scooters. In fact, they could rent them and have them available on board for the entire week. The ship’s decks are level and smooth and there are elevators to take passengers between decks. Please let us know if you have more questions.
Do you recommend booking without having a second person commited as of right now?
If you’re interested in coming with us, we recommend booking a cabin now as a single traveler. You can always add another person to your cabin (and split the cost if desired) at a later date. As you know, we’d LOVE to have you join us.
We just signed up! So excited!!! We’ve cruised before, including Alaska, but it’s been a LONG time. Can’t wait!!!!
Is there anywhere to see pricing prior to submitting deposit?

Hi Ann and Steve, Louann from Texas here. We recently retired and have promised our 2 adult children and families an Alaskan cruise, so I am so excited at your 2024 choice! Big question, this would include a 15, 13 and 5 yr old..are children ok with you? Thank you!
Hi Louann-
Children are absolutely welcome on the trip–indeed, we think Alaska is a great family destination. And the ship even has a kids’ club and a teen room complete with activities.
